One of the main challenges that this research on violence sets for itself is understanding the gap between theoretical discourse and the one used in policy documents and activist reports. The latter reside on certain discursive commonalities since they are in constant dialogue, constant communication based on a shared language. On the other hand, the contemporary theoretical work on violence remains confined to the academic commentarism and there is little reference to policy and activist documents as discourse that should be tackled as such.
