Michaela Praisler

Michaela Praisler is Professor of English literature and vice chancellor of the Faculty of Letters, “Dunărea de Jos” University of Galaţi, Romania. She has a doctorate in English and American literature, teaches Literary Theory and Twentieth Century Literature(s) in English, and has published a number of books and articles including: On Modernism, Postmodernism and the Novel (Ed. Didactică şi Pedagogică, 2005), “Fighting Medusa: Fay Weldon’s Big Women” and “Conflicting ‘Translations’ of the Woolfian Text” (Gender Studies, No.2/2003 and No.4/2005), “Cultural Symbolism(s) at War in Salman Rushdie’s The Firebird’s Nest” and “Accessing Silent Territories. Contemporary Poetry on Women,” (Universitas XXI, 2003 and 2007). At present, she is working on Voices of Otherness in Contemporary English Literature and coordinating the Romanian team participating in a Sixth Framework Programme: Societies and Lifestyles. Towards Enhancing Social Harmonization through Knowledge of Subcultural Communities.
