Gabriela Dima

Gabriela Dima is Associate Professor at the Department of English, Faculty of Letters, “Dunărea de Jos” University of Galaţi, Romania. She was awarded the doctor’s degree in philology at the University of Bucharest in 2001 (thesis title: Verba sentiendi in English and Romanian). Her professional and research interests include : Contemporary English Language and Linguistics (Syntax, Semantics), Contrastive Lexicology and Lexicography, Corpus Linguistics, The Theory and Practice of Translation. Some of her most relevant personal contributions to the fields mentioned above include: Verba Sentiendi in English and Romanian (Galaţi, 2002), Outlines of English Semantics (Galaţi, 2003), Outlines of English Syntax (Galaţi, 2003). She co-authored English-Romanian Dictionary for Mechanical and Metallurgical Engineering (in 2 vols., Bucharest, 2000) and English Through Translations. Interpretation Translation-Oriented Text Analysis (Galaţi, 2004). Other publications include articles and reviews in the domain. The competences and qualifications held are: certified translator (English –Romanian), director of the Terminology Department within the Research Centre of the English Department Interface Research of the Original and the Translated Text. Cognitive and Communicative Dimensions of the Message. Her particular interest in terminological glossaries has recently determined her to embark upon the more thorough study of both Romanian and international legal documents and literature on migration
