This is the title of a lobbying tool/advocacy guide published by the European Women’s Lobby – EWL together with Refugee Women’s Resource Project at Asylum Aid (UK) in November 2007. It calls for the need for gender guidelines to implement the European Qualifications and Asylum Procedures Directives. and argues that it is essential that women have access to asylum procedures and a fair assessment of their claim on the basis of gender-specific persecution.
“Asylum is not gender neutral” is addressed to women’s organisations, specialist refugee/asylum organisations, human rights organisations as well as lesbian and transgender organisations, providing them with a checklist of issues to monitor regarding women’s access to and assessment of their asylum claim.
