Ge.M.IC. will explore the relationship between gender, migration and intercultural interaction in the context of urban spaces, focusing on specific neighborhoods. Urban spaces need to be studied as a separate thematic area since it constitutes the locus of intense intercultural conflict, exchange and cooperation. This project will shed light on practices of urban everyday life, where culturally specific forms of identity and belonging commonly associated with traditional gender roles are being challenged as a result of migrant mobility and diversity.
